Rigel Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ:RIGL) shares jumped 2.72% to $4.15. RIGL and AstraZeneca AB (AZ) on June 4 announced the topline results from OSKIRA-2 and OSKIRA-3, the remaining pivotal Phase 3 clinical trials investigating fostamatinib, the first oral spleen tyrosine kinase (SYK) inhibitor in development for rheumatoid arthritis (RA).
MedAssets, Inc. (NASDAQ:MDAS) shares gained 2.72% to $23.40. The company on August 1 announced that Cape Cod Healthcare (CCHC), headquartered in Hyannis, Mass., has elected to expand its clinical consulting relationship with the company to achieve additional operational performance improvements. The new agreement builds upon CCHC’s $4 million in savings generated in 2012 by utilizing Physician Preference Item (PPI) Consulting services and adds conversion to MedAssets group purchasing organization (GPO).
NXP Semiconductors NV (NASDAQ:NXPI) shares jumped 2.70% and closed at $35.77 in the last trading session. The company on August 1 reported financial results for the second quarter of 2013, ended June 30, 2013, and provided guidance for the third quarter 2013. Total revenue in the second quarter was $1,188 million, just over a nine percent sequential increase, and nearly a nine percent increase from the comparable year ago period.
Visa Inc (NYSE:V) shares climbed 2.70% to $184. The company on July 24 reported fiscal third-quarter results that beat analysts’ estimates as spending on its credit and debit cards grew 13%.
The company said it earned $1.23 billion, or $1.88 per share, in the most recent quarter, compared with a loss of $1.84 billion, or $2.74 per share, a year earlier, when the company recorded a $4.1 billion litigation provision. Excluding the provision, the company said its profit rose 16% from a year earlier. Operating revenue increased 17% to $3 billion.
