Christiano Ronaldo, the football superstar, had to pay a fine worth almost €19 million to avoid the jail sentence of twenty-three months in Spain for tax fraud on Tuesday. Ronaldo was accused in 2017 for four counts of tax evasion. The periods include 2011 to 2014. It was claimed by the Spanish prosecutor that the football star hid fund in companies outside of Spain to the value of €14.7 million.
The accusations do not relate to the Real Madrid salary that was received by Christiano Ronaldo since he transferred in 2009 from Manchester United. The football player paid a fine worth €18.8 million to settle the case and accepted the suspended jail sentence. A sentence of two years or less for first-time offenders is allowed by the Spanish law to be served under probation, which means the football hero does not have to go to jail.
Ronaldo who accepted Real Madrid last year and joined the Italian team in accordance with the deal of €100 million, which provides the football superstar with a yearly salary of €30 million. At the same time the former central midfielder of Real Madrid, Xabi Alonso is also in trouble for tax fraud, his trail is suspended by the court magistrate.
